Overview.
Dr. Bamboo is the brainchild of a first-time mom-to-be, who is also a doctor. Understanding that love starts with physical touch, she wanted to provide products that were soft, hypoallergenic and antibacterial in order to give other new parents peace of mind and assurance as they anticipated their little one's arrival. She came to us to help turn her vision into a reality.
Challenges
Considering that the baby product industry is a highly saturated market, one of the main challenges was to set Dr. Bamboo apart from all of it's competitors. Another issue that we faced was that none of our team members were parents themselves. It would have helped in getting input as to how the brand should communicate and relate to it's targeted consumers.
Solution
Dr. Bamboo doesn't just sell baby products, their main goal is to help other nervous first-time parents feel secured and comforted by having a trustworthy product on their side. In order to address all of these, we collaborated very closely with Dr. Bamboo's founder and creator. We also did our own extensive research and analyzed other competitors in the market.

Brand Statement
Dr. Bamboo provides baby linen and textile products to motherly customers who go for quality with a trustworthy voice helping them feel secured and comforted.
We started off the project with a brand discovery workshop together with the founder of Dr. Bamboo. In which she selected the qualities that best represents each category that can streamline the brand's overall messaging. From then on, I created three stylesheets with varying styles for the founder to choose from, in which she selected the stylesheet shown above.

Using the stylesheet as the foundation of the brand's visual design, I produced studies of abstract illustrations to portray each of the main qualities of the brand. I used a watercolor brush to elicit the feeling of dreaminess, childishness, and bright feelings.
I curated the color palette to communicate how organic and natural the brand is but balanced it with the dark blue color to add a personal touch to the brand as the founder is a medical doctor.

I created studies that were mainly rounded, with no sharp edges, in relation as to how parents would baby-proof their homes in preparation for their baby's arrival.
The chosen logo has the word "Dr." that perfectly fits on the negative space above the word "Bamboo" to associate the feeling of comfort and safety that consumers and their babies feel when using
Dr. Bamboo's quality products.

Similarly to the color palette, we complimented the playfulness and roundedness of the Primary Typeface by solidifying trustworthiness to the brand with a more structured Secondary Typeface.
We then designed all packaging materials for Dr. Bamboo.
In applying the brand's visual identity, we made sure that the images are the following; minimal, clean, bright, and warm. One of our main challenges were that Dr. Bamboo was created at the height of the pandemic so product usage and lifestyle photography with baby models was highly improbable during this period. Moving forward, I created the visuals for social media and the brand guidelines.
